It was leaking underneath, looked worn, and she wanted something different—even though that meant a much-loved granite countertop had to go. Bids were made for replacing the doors and drawer fronts, adding new uppers over the existing ones, redoing the crown with the paint-encrusted, much-disliked rope trim, and adding a new, more decorative vent hood. We sanded all surfaces thoroughly until smooth, then spray-painted them with a professional cabinet paint by Sherwin Williams, along with a special paint by Benjamin Moore on the island. New soft-close hinges were installed. The black vent hood was refinished in the same custom color as the rest of the cabinets, and the island received a new coordinating color. We also added new, more adjustable hidden soft-close hinges, and new pulls were ordered. We came in first and completed the painting before the other contractors installed the new quartz countertops, matching quartz backsplash, and sink. We finished the doors and drawers off-site and came back to apply the final coats on everything before the others fabricated and installed the tops.
